About Us
"Our model of legal support makes us stand out from the rest - we care about our clients’ situations and will help them as much as we can, through our free or affordable services."
Our Services
"One of the greatest challenges to accessing specialist legal advice is that people don’t always recognise that their problem has a legal resolution. Providing people with specialist legal advice quickly so that we can support them to resolve their problem remains a priority for us."

Recovery Through Rights

The Recovery Through Rights project is an exciting partnership project between the North East Law Centre and the Recovery College Collective (ReCoCo) Newcastle.

What is the Help Through Recovery project?

The Recovery Through Rights Project seeks to:

  • develop a resource based within ReCoCo for legal advice, action, education and awareness raising, with a goal of service users taking on a peer support
  • eliminate significant barriers facing service users and their rights in the mental health, welfare benefits and general health and social care systems
  • test how legal and human rights based approaches could improve  outcomes for people experiencing mental distress

How to access the project

Our Welfare Benefits Caseworkers works closely with the Recovery College Collective in their Recovery Through Rights project.

Referrals for this project are made by ReCoCo. This project gives people the opportunity for to ask about benefits, seek one-off advice and casework support, and discuss issues around disability and illness benefits.
